A Compact, Wideband Dual-Polarized Full-Duplex Antenna With High Tx-Rx Isolation

A compact, wideband dual-polarized antenna with high isolation is presented for in-band full-duplex application. Based on loading technique, a low-profile tapered slot antenna (TSA) is designed, which makes the structure compact and achieves a wider bandwidth. In order to achieve high isolation, a cross-shaped and symmetric antenna with metallic vias is designed without adding any out-of-phase power divider. The final design with an overall size is $0.52\lambda_{\mathbf{min}} \times 0.52\lambda_{\mathbf{min}} \times 0.32\lambda _{\mathbf{min}}$ ($\lambda_{\mathbf{min}}$ is the free-space wavelength at the lowest operational frequency). The simulation results exhibit a 10 dB return loss bandwidth of 40.2%(3.42--5.14 GHz), an isolation of $\ge$ 64.5 dB over the whole operational bandwidth and peak isolation of 87 dB at 3.8 GHz.
