Design of a High-Gain Low Side-lobe Waveguide Feed Array in Ku-Band

This paper presents a waveguide planar slot array antenna designed for the Ku band, emphasizing low sidelobe levels (SLL). The array configuration comprises a $2 \times 2$ element setup. To enhance gain and reduce sidelobe levels, we establish a 1-to-256 unequal amplitude power divider utilizing the Taylor distribution. High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) simulations demonstrate the 1st sidelobe level in $\mathbf{E}$-plane and H plane is $-17 \mathrm{~dB}$ and $-16.5 \mathrm{~dB}$ at 14.9GHz, respectively. The realized gain is 38.2dBi. Furthermore, the VSWR exhibits a relative bandwidth of $5.6 \%(14.5 \mathrm{GHz}-15.35 \mathrm{GHz})$ with values consistently below 1.5. The radiation efficiency also surpasses $94.6 \%$, ensuring efficient performance. Leveraging these enhancements, we successfully construct a $32 \times 32$ array that achieve high efficiency, high gain, low profile and low sidelobe levels.
