A Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Magnetoelectric Dipole Filtering Antenna

This paper reports a design of dual-band dual-polarized filtering antenna. It derives from a traditional slot-coupled magnetoelectric dipole (ME-dipole) antenna. Among the magnetic dipoles, two groups of shorted metal branches with different heights are inserted. The aimed working band of the antenna is at 3.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz. It achieves a dual-band bandpass response by introducing four radiation nulls without adding intricate components to ensure the frequency selectivity. A prototype is fabricated for demonstration and the measured results show that the in-band gains with about 6.5 dBi and the out-of-band radiation suppression level higher than 18 dB are achieved. The implemented results are compared to other dual-band antennas.
