A Tunable Power Divider for Magnetic Resonance Imaging at 7T

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive medical imaging technique that can produce high-contrast and high-resolution images. It is widely used for the diagnosis and study of various diseases. The power divider plays a significant role in the RF transmit chain of MRI system, involving functionalities such as phased array transmission, multi-mode imaging, and multi-nuclei imaging. This paper proposes a tunable power divider for radio frequency systems (298MHz) in high field (≥ 7T) magnetic resonance systems. Compared with the classic fixed ratio power divider, a tunable power divider whose amplitude and phase can be continuously adjusted is designed. The power ratio and phase can be adjusted through introducing tunable capacitor. As a result, the two-port isolation is lower than −27dB.and the power distribution ratio can be adjusted from 1:1.92 to 1:1.
