A 1-Bit Low-Cost Phased Array Element for Circularly Polarization in K-Band

In this paper, a 1-bit low-cost phased array element for left-hand circularly polarization (LHCP) in K-Band is proposed. The proposed element consists of a feeding patch, an annular patch, two diodes placed in the opposite side of the feeding patch and two bias lines. By controlling the on-off state of the two diodes, a 0° and 180° phase shift of the element can be achieved. The simulated results show that the element can work in a frequency range of 18.7 ~ 19.4 GHz with a realized gain of 3.2dB.
