Assessment of Wind Speed at Various Heights and Analysis of Wind Power Potential

The proposed three parameter Weibull distribution (PDF) can be used to fit the distributions of wind speed in the sites experiencing null wind speed for wind power applications. The statistical analysis for various estimated parameters are computed using different statistical methods In this paper, a study on a suitable site was done to analyze the performance of various Weibull fitting pdfs. A mixture distribution with seven parameters have been used to derive the expected capacity factor of the turbine installed in the location. The expected energy is computed using the Vestas model turbine.
