A Strategy to Mitigate ARP Spoofing Attacks on Hypervisors

Within a multi-tenant cloud setting, an examination was conducted on virtual machines (VMs) that are interconnected over virtualized networks to identify any weaknesses to Metasploit Layer two Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) spoofing attacks, which are often seen in local networks. The research sought to assess the vulnerability of virtual machines (VMs) in various virtual network configurations under sophisticated hypervisor settings. A Python script was used to mimic an ARP spoofing attack by modifying the Transmission Control Protocol payload, using a malicious virtual machine (VM). This test evaluated the influence on neighboring virtual machines. The analysis found that virtual machines (VMs) running several operating systems simultaneously were more susceptible to being penetrated. A countermeasure devised in Kali Linux, via a Python script, effectively stopped these assault sessions while preserving regular port activities. The resistance of different hypervisor platforms to such assaults varied, but no one system was completely immune to all sorts of attacks, emphasizing the need for strong and diverse security techniques in cloud computing environments.
