Reliability Assessment of PV Inverter Considering Degradation Rate and Panel Oversizing

Renewable energy sources are becoming more prevalent as they help cut down on greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. In the last decade, tremendous amounts of electricity have been generated from these sources. One of the fastest-growing renewable energy technologies is photovoltaic (PV). Many PV systems have been introduced for standalone and grid-connected applications. Unfortunately, reliability issues are a concern with regard to the PV inverter. This paper aims to analyse the reliability of a single-phase grid-connected PV inverter. It is conducted through a test case that is based on a real-time mission profile in Andhra Pradesh, India. The study also explores the effects of oversizing and panel degradation on the inverter’s performance. According to the findings, oversizing and the degradation rate of PV panels significantly affect their reliability when operating in hot climates like India.
