Adsorptive Removal of Impurities from Transformer oil using Activated carbon

Activated carbon is a highly effective adsorbent that can remove gaseous impurities from transformer oil. This paper presents a research study on the use of activated carbon for the removal of gaseous impurities from transformer oil. The study measured various properties of the oil before and after treatment with activated carbon, including acidity, moisture content, dissolved gases, and furan compounds. The results showed that activated carbon was highly effective in removing gaseous impurities from transformer oil. The acidity of the oil decreased significantly after treatment, as did the levels of moisture content, dissolved gases, and furan compounds. The study highlights the potential of activated carbon as an effective adsorbent for the removal of gaseous impurities from transformer oil. It also emphasizes the importance of maintaining high-quality insulating oil to ensure the longevity and reliability of power transformers.
