Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Hierarchical Nanomaterials for Chemiresistive-Type Gas Sensors

Currently, two-dimensional nanomaterials are being developed, which presents new opportunities for creating micro- and nanoelectronic devices. Hierarchical nanostructures of transition metal dichalcogenides are of interest for the development of gas sensors operating at room temperature. Protocols for the hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical MoS2 and WS2 nanostructures were developed. The processes of hydrothermal growth are analyzed. Sensor responses of synthesized nanostructures to volatile organic compounds at room temperature have been studied. It is shown that MoS2 nanostructures make it possible to detect volatile organic compounds when measuring a signal by impedance spectroscopy. WS2 nanostructures show a sensor response with common resistance measurements. Thus, the developed hierarchical structures are promising for highly sensitive gas sensors with low energy consumption.
