Transport Layers as a Factor in Perovskite Solar Cells Improvement

Perovskite materials are one of the current promises in the future development of the next generation of solar cells, giving the same and even better efficiency than currently available technologies at a competitive cost and assuring a more widespread area of applications thanks to possibility to apply them virtually over any material, between other advantages. However, there are some factors that stop its extensive use and current research in the field points in the direction to overcome them. One of these issues is to find out the ideal structure of the solar cell to improve efficiency, and one of the main components are the transport layers that help to extract and transfer the obtained electrons in the photoelectric process. In this article we review the current developments and trends in this particular but important portion of perovskite solar cells (PSC) architecture.
