Study of the Cold Crucible Design Influence on the Electrical Parameters of a Bottom-Heated Induction Furnace for Vitrification of Radioactive Waste

The article is devoted to the study of the designs of induction melting furnaces in a cold crucible with bottom heating for vitrification of radioactive waste using numerical 3D mathematical modeling of the electromagnetic field. Various designs of the bottom of a cold crucible used for borosilicate glass melting with bottom heating are considered from the point of view of heating efficiency and manufacturing complexity. New effects of electromagnetic field concentration in the gaps between the elements of a cold crucible are shown, depending on its design. The results obtained contribute to the creation of more efficient devices for vitrification of high-level waste.
