Intelligent Information System for Monitoring the Road Pavement Conditions

Good pavement condition is an important requirement for the safety and continuity of traffic. The architecture of an intelligent information system for monitoring road pavement conditions is developed. Common types of road pavement defects and methods of their detection are analyzed. The main stages of system design and subsystems in its composition are considered: core subsystem, data processing subsystem and analytical subsystem. Photos and videos from smartphones, data from car DVRs, accelerometer data, etc., accompanied by geolocation tags can be used as input data of the information system for monitoring. The purpose of this paper is to create an intelligent information system for timely informing vehicle users about the deterioration of road pavement condition to prevent road accidents.
