Investigation of the Formation of Green Color on Carbon Steel Using Laser Radiation

The article considers the features of the formation of green color on the surface of the steel. This material is used in the manufacture of decorative and applied art objects. Results of laser processing of model samples made of low-alloy steel by radiation from a pulsed fibre ytterbium laser at a wavelength of 1064 nm are presented. It is shown that it is possible to obtain oxide films with a thickness of several micrometres using laser radiation. The process of obtaining the green colour on the metal highlights the changes in the properties of steel under the influence of laser radiation.
