Method for Early Damage Assessment of Pipes Based on Linear Guided Waves

The main purpose of this research is to create a mathematical model for the method of early diagnosis of pipe damage based on linear guided waves with subsequent digital testing for the ability to detect various defects in the material of pipelines.In the study we applied methods of mathematical modelling and verification of the developed model in digital software environment Simulation Solidworks with analytical conclusions about the nature of functioning of the proposed method of detection of defects in pipes. The mathematical model is based on the equations of propagation of acoustic waves in a continuous medium, the digital model is based on the reflex detection of non-continuous material of pipes with the help of ultrasonic linearly directed waves.The results of the study indicate that the proposed method of detection of defects in polyethylene pipes has the ability to detect inhomogeneities in the material, including a variety of cracks.
