The Ability of Transmitting ULTRA HDTV Signals in the Terrestrial Central Television Frequency Band

The incoming epoch of 8K ultra high-definition television (ULTRA HDTV) provides 16 times higher video-image sharpness than HDTV. Consequently, much higher channel bandwidth will be required. This paper discuss 3 modulation and coding scheme for the 8K ULTRA HDTV signal processing algorithm: with a forward error correction (FEC) BCH(128, 29, 44) code; transition to a compression ratio of 220, with 32-PSK 8-AM modulation and a variant with concatenated FEC based on LDPC(64800, 41760) and BCH(41760, 41568, 25). Moreover, application of HEVC compression algorithm with compression ratio 352, with transition to QPSK modulation without FEC are presented. For processing 4K ULTRA HDTV, HDTV and standard-definition television (SDTV) signals, the authors propose a simplified algorithm with low compression ratios and QPSK modulation. As a result, all major technical restrictions on the wide practical implementation of these standards in the European terrestrial frequency band of channel 8.0 MHz are removed.
