Angle Calculation of Interferometry System Based on Trigonometry Functions

A radio interferometer system coupled with distance measurements can serve as an alternative to the Global Positioning System (GPS) for determining the direction of airborne objects such as drones, rockets, and balloons. By utilizing two antennas, it becomes possible to ascertain the precise direction of radio-emitting objects. The interferometer system employs a simple yet highly accurate method to determine the azimuth and elevation angles. This research paper explores a trigonometric technique for estimating the angle of the radio signal received by the two antennas. To validate the proposed approach, the angle calculations are compared with the results obtained from the more extensive Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) method. Simulation results indicate that the suggested method performs admirably, exhibiting an error margin of less than one degree.
