Email Protection in the Digital Age: Evaluating Symmetric Cryptographic Algorithms

Nowadays, digital data interaction plays an increasingly pivotal role across various industries. Ensuring the security of information during data storage and transmission is of paramount importance. Cryptography serves as a formidable guardian when it comes to safeguarding multimedia data, encompassing audio, video, images, and more, during its journey through networks. By employing a diverse range of cryptographic algorithms, data is encrypted before transmission and decrypted upon reception. Among these algorithms, Data Encryption Standard (DES), Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES), and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) are some of the most widely recognized algorithms. The performance and security properties of DES, 3DES, and AES are analyzed and compared in this paper. The performance and effectiveness of these encryption algorithms are examined based on individual strengths and shortcomings. The findings of this paper contribute valuable insights into selecting the most suitable encryption algorithm for email protection, enhancing the overall security posture of digital communications.
