A study to identify significant predictors of Employee Satisfaction of Private Security Personnel of Enterprises through Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis

In the private security industry, there is supposedly a lack of employee satisfaction. The study's goals were to determine the features that impact employee satisfaction of these private security personnel who are usually outsourced personnel hired from the security agencies. The survey instrument was adapted from the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Around 50 variables were considered for the study initially. A survey of a random sample of 526 security personnel was conducted serving the enterprises in the Industrial belt of Asansol Durgapur region of South Bengal. A close exploration of the responses revealed that only 14 variables actually impact the satisfaction levels of the security personnel. Exploratory factor analysis further helped us to identify five basic component factors. The significance of each factor was deduced using Hierarchical Multiple regression analysis. The theory based on Two Factors, often known as the motivation-hygiene theory of Herzberg, served as the study's main framework. This study identified five factors impacting employee satisfaction, three motivators - Growth Prospect, Recognition, and the task and two hygiene factors – Peer Group Relations and Managerial Efficiency which further validated the theory in the current situation of study.
