Development of ASIL B Safety Integrity Level Rotational Position Sensor

This study focuses on the development of an innovative position sensor, adhering to the rigorous ISO 26262 standard's ASIL B safety integrity level. The sensor setup includes advanced features, including dual-channel position measurement using non-contact magnetic technology, ensuring two independent outputs for enhanced precision. Multifaceted approach in the study encompasses hardware and software design, rigorous product validation and verification tests, and documentation. The hardware design involved creating a prototype and ensuring compliance with functional safety criteria, while the software design incorporated programmable functionalities using NI LabVIEW software. Through exhaustive validation and verification tests, including international standard-specified electrical and environmental assessments, accelerated life tests, and internal chip functionality examinations were performed.Limitations observed in current sensors discussed, offering a system that not only meets functional safety standards but also aligns with the latest product development techniques.
