An enhanced mutual authentication scheme for healthcare systems using Elgamal and ECC

With the advancement and expertise in telecommunications technologies, the World Health Organization utilizes telemedicine systems to offer healthcare services from different distances to perform diagnosis, precautions, and treatments. Anyhow, there are always risks and ultimatums in the form of security and confidentiality issues with sensitive information and the information architecture. The most constructive approach is to always check the legality and indigenousness of the user and the server. Verification of authenticity is very important to stop destructive attackers from taking advantage of resources and breaking in without permission. Considering all this, we have proposed a refined authentication protocol to conquer and mitigate the security flaws. Our scheme employs Elgamal’s asymmetric cryptography and Elliptic Curve cryptography so that it offers dual protection for information sharing and mutual authentication between communication parties. A performance comparison study with other schemes shows the superior security and efficiency of our protocol.
