Corporate Feed Antenna Array for mmWave Application

The next-generation wireless communication promises to offer enhanced services that includes of higher data rate, better connectivity, and low latency. Since the 4GLTE spectrum is occupied, there is a need to shift towards higher frequency. The mmWave band is idle not much occupied and also offers high bandwidth, but has a disadvantage of signal attenuation. One essential part for wireless communication system is an antenna. A high gain antenna will be a critical requirement for mmWave communication. The single microstrip patch antenna is firstly designed to resonate at 24GHz. The gain offered by single antenna is not encourage, for mmWave application, the enhancement in gain is obtained with antenna array. The feed technique used is the corporate feed. The basic advantage of corporate feed is it occupies less space and more antenna can be accommodated on the substrate. The antenna linear array of 1x2 and 1x4 is constructed using the corporate feed technique. The improvement in gain and bandwidth of the antenna of 12.98dB and 2.3GHz are achieved with a 1x4 corporate feed antenna array. Thus, the proposed, 1x4 array is more suitable candidate for mmWave application.
