loT-based Smart Dustbin for Effective Waste Management

The numerous urban regions that are now being constructed around the world are causing the area's population density to increase. As a result, there is a higher possibility of an unhealthy atmosphere as waste and trash production rises. In today's culture, especially in India, the majority of people lack a sense of responsibility, and many of us loiter about the rubbish in our surroundings. This project was developed to deal with concerns of this nature, with an emphasis on the cleanliness and hygienic conditions of every given neighborhood. People or any other individual will be compensated for disposing of rubbish or any other kind of waste in the trash can. In addition to materials that deteriorate but do not dissolve, a dustbin is a receptacle used to hold recyclable and non-recyclable rubbish. They are often used in homes, workplaces, and other locations, but when they are full, no one is there to clean them up, causing the waste to pour out. The area around a trash can might enhance pollutants as well. Dustbin air pollution may lead to the growth of bacteria and viruses that can give humans terrible diseases. For trash management, Smart Dustbins are increasingly crucial in the workplace. This study proposes a smart trash can for smart waste management and a sanitary environment. The microcontroller NodeMCU ESP8266 is used to create the system. The moment someone approaches the trash can, it will open on its own. The trashcan will measure the amount of waste, the amount of moisture, and the weight of the waste within the dustbin. All of these measurements will be shown on mobile applications and the computer online. Email management and app notifications will be used to provide notifications of the entire display to computers and mobile devices.
