A D-Band Homogeneous Plano-Convex Lens Antenna with a Dual-Mode Conical Feed Horn

This manuscript reports the design of a linearly polarized homogeneous plano-convex lens antenna that operates at D-band. It is fed with a dual-mode conical horn to ascertain high polarization purity. The feed produces wide impedance bandwidth of ≈ 37% and about 15.7 dBi of gain at 140 GHz with half power beamwidths of 32° x 32° and cross polar discrimination (XPD) of about 55 dB. The overall lens antenna exhibits gain of about 40 dBi with 3dB beamwidths of ~ 1.4° x 1.4°.
