Design of a Compact Hexagonal Wideband Antenna for Modern WiMAX, Wi-Fi, and IoT Applications

This study converses, a compact wideband microstrip line-fed patch antenna for various Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and various IoT applications. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are 30×30×0.762mm3. A partial ground with multiple slots is present to enhance the results and FR4 epoxy with dielectric constant, 4.4 is used as the substrate material. The impact of variations in the dimensions of the center ellipse of the patch, circular slots of the patch, width of partial ground, slots in the partial ground, and the rectangular slot etched to the feedline of the antenna, have been investigated. The simulated wide bandwidth of the devised structure ranges from 2.9 GHz to 5.5 GHz with a reflection coefficient below -10dB. The peak gain for the antenna is 7dBi (simulated) and the maximum radiation efficiency is 95.8%.
