Biometric Employee Identification Using Mobile Devices: ICT integration of Attendance Monitoring System (AMS) and Human Resource Information System (HRIS)

The integration of information and communication technology (ICT) has resulted in a dramatic change in the running and operations of organizations in a variety of areas, including HRM (Human Resource Management). In tandem with technology advancement, firms across several industries have used a variety of ICT solutions to improve the efficiency and productivity of HRM administrative activities. The use of ICT in improving the effectiveness of HRM administration is increasingly recognized as a critical aspect in achieving organizational success in this digitally driven era. HRIS is a software or web-based tool for entering, monitoring, and storing data. In this sense, employee job performance refers to an employee's contribution to their organization. Previous studies on this topic mostly focused on Sri Lanka's Western Province, particularly Colombo, whereas this study was undertaken in India.As experienced, COVID-19 has spread all over the world and has had a negative impact on the countries from both a social and an economic standpoint. In order to prevent the corona virus, people are required to maintain social distance, wear face masks, and stay away from biometric attendance systems. The current attendance system still has issues, including the` first being the lengthy lines in front of the attendance machine during peak hours and the inability of employees who work outside the office to log their presence. On the other hand, everyone has a mobile device, and they all come equipped with a finger scanner. The attendance system, which is connected to the payroll system and tools for human resource management, accepts input from coordinate GPS and finger scanners. In order to track the social distance between employees, a proposed system for biometric employee identification using mobile devices is described in this study. The goal of this study was to examine the aforementioned issue and determine the impact of ICT integration on the current attendance monitoring system (AMS) and human resource management system.
