Structural Effect on the Performance of Negative Curvature Hollow Core IR Optical Fiber

Negative curvature hollow core fiber (NCHCF) transmission attenuation spectra are simulated and analyzed over a wavelength range of (2–12) μm, with a cladding of 10 capillaries. The effect of jack tube thickness, capillary number, core diameter, and wavelength on confinement loss spectra was investigated, and the outcomes were in good agreement with the high-loss and low-loss categories predicted by the ARROW model. A criterion for picking the fundamental mode was given based on the mode confinement factor. This study shows that there are 25 capillaries (N = 25) and a jack tube thickness of T = 55 μm, and the fiber core diameter of D = 150 μm have a minimal confinement loss at 10.75 μm wavelength. This study may provide significant theoretical direction for the design and manufacture of negative curvature hollow-core fibers.
