Rydberg Atoms for Hyperspectral Radiometry in the Planetary Boundary Layer

Rydberg-based microwave sensing as a quantum technology is a rapidly developing field showing great promise at breaking past the boundaries of classical RF systems. The QuARREM instrument under development leverages Rydberg sensing for radiometry, providing a large number of narrow channels with sensitivity near the quantum limit, with reduced system complexity and a path towards absolute self-calibration. These capabilities can be applied to high-resolution Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) sensing.
