Textile RFIDs for Healthcare Applications

This paper presents a minimized, wearable RFID on hemp-based fabric for use in hospitals and medical environments to track patients, staff, and equipment. The 915 MHz tag is designed to be unobtrusively integrated into hospital garments. This design is explored in the context of a larger hospital localization system, specifically in terms of an on-body wearable integrated as part of normal operation and treatment. Implementation as part of a patient-centric Hospital Real-time Location System, the design, simulation, and results are discussed.
