A New Topology of DC-DC Boost Converter with Improved Characteristics

This work offerings a new topology of DC-DC Boost converter with improved power characteristics, which is operated by a constant dc voltage. The main purpose of this topology is to introduce high voltage gain, improved power factor, better efficiency, and lower total harmonic distortion (THD) by following IEEE-519 standards. Measured voltage gain and efficiency are comparatively higher than some of the conventional DC-DC topologies where the total harmonic distortion requires a lower value, which is also fulfilled by this converter. Moreover, the proposed converter contains a salient feature of using a reduced number of components compared to some existing topologies. Thus, this feature resists a topology from being bulky that is to be avoided. In this work, the performance parameters have been measured and the results have been validated using MATLAB/Simulink software.
