Towards Enhanced Bandwidth in TWTs: An Exploration of Helix Structure Optimization

Helix-based traveling wave tubes (TWT) is a microwave amplifier. TWTs have been widely used in various applications, such as wireless communication, plasma diagnostics, imaging, and healthcare, due to their high power, high efficiency, good linearity, and wide frequency ranges[1]. This work focuses on optimizing the helix slow wave structure of the TWT to get better bandwidth since it's cumbersome to operate TWT in high-power microwave frequency regimes.
