Study of the Tilted Mounting Angle of Automotive Radar Antenna Installed Behind a Painted Bumper

The paper studies the effect of the tilted mounting angle of an automotive radar antenna installed behind a painted bumper. First, a series-fed radar antenna array is designed and installed behind a painted bumper. Afterwards, the radar antenna is rotated about the x-, y-, and z-axis to investigate the impact of the tilted mounting angle. Further, the gain performance of the antenna in the yz and xz planes is studied and compared with the no rotation case. The performed study aid in understanding the rotation limit that can be tolerated for the application of Long Range Radar.
