Design of C band 120W Space TWT

The article presents design details of C band 120W TWT and its subassemblies like electron gun, electron focusing system, helix slow wave structure (SWS) and multistage depressed collector along with results. This TWT is targeted for space application as part of communication satellites and specific design considerations have been made to ensure its space worthiness. The design is optimized to provide highest efficiency in the frequency range of 3.7GHz to 4.2GHz with minimum saturated output power of 120W and saturation gain more than 50dB.
