An Inexpensive Drone and RF Emitter Tracking System Using Monopulse Comparator

Radio direction finding (RDF) system finds many applications from commercial to strategic. In this paper, monopulse comparator (MPC) based inexpensive RDF system is presented which can be used for drone and RF emitter tracking. Though MPCs themselves have been realized in various technologies like microstrip, rect-ax and waveguide, however much less research is reported on developing a complete system. This paper presents the complete tracking system from RF front end to baseband processing. For the proof of the proposed concept, a MPC based RDF is designed and developed at 2.45 GHz.
