The Implementation of CPML for the Improved HIE-FDTD Method

This article introduces an implementation of the convolutional perfectly matched layer (CPML) boundary condition for the improved hybrid implicit explicit finite-difference time-domain (HIE-FDTD) method. The study includes a numerical investigation to validate the effectiveness of the convolutional PML (CPML) implementation, as well as an assessment of its performance. Additionally, the numerical simulations of the proposed convolutional PML (CPML) implementation compared with the traditional HIE-FDTD and leapfrog HIE-FDTD methods. The results of the simulation study indicate that the proposed convolutional PML (CPML) implementation on the improved HIE-FDTD method exhibits comparatively weakly conditional stability when compared with the regular traditional HIE and the leapfrog HIE-FDTD methods.
