A Pentaband Hexagonal Split Ring Resonator with Defected Ground Structured 2-port MIMO Antenna

This paper proposes a pentaband hexagonal split ring resonator (SRR) in configuration with defected ground structured of 2 port MIMO antenna. Five resonating modes are achieved at 6.16GHz, 10.52GHz, 12.70GHz, 17.55GHz and 21.40GHz which includes Ka band frequencies (3-30GHz). The proposed antenna is designed in TM 11 mode and the feeding technique used is microstrip line. At fifth resonating frequency i.e. 21.40GHz, 10db impedance bandwidth is (21.11-21.92) GHz which shows promising peak gain of 8.58 dB. Also the diversity performance parameters for MIMO antenna such as diversity gain (DG) is measured >9.999996 and Envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is measured <0.0011 with isolation of −25dB. The overall antenna dimension is $40^{\times}36\mathrm{mm}2$ throughout these measurements
