Digital video communication using salt water standing columns

Audio and video communication is achieved using simple salt water standing columns over a wide frequency range (50-670) MHz. Communication is tested over a distance of 45 meters. In these experiments, salt water columns with different insulator bases and different conductivity are used for testing RF communication. Salt water column is used on either side for transmission and reception of the signals. Salt water containing charged particles acts as antenna. RF power is coupled to salt water using a N-type coaxial connector. Advantage of this antenna is its simple configuration, transparency, low cost, wide bandwidth, conformability, reconfigurability, good electromagnetic coupling and easy transportability. This system offers low RCS (Radar cross section).
