K/Ka Band ADE Reflector with broadened beam size in 27-31 GHz Band

This paper reports a K/Ka-Band Axially Displaced Ellipsoid (ADE) reflector Antenna with shaped main and subreflector surfaces operating in 17-22 GHz and 27-31 GHz frequency bands. In addition to the full band operation, the reflector system also broadens the beam size in receive band 27-31 GHz in order to cover a wider geographical foot print when operated from a MEO satellite. The feed is axially corrugated horn and is kept purposefully close to the subreflector inorder to avoid separate struts for holding subreflector. The beam size in 27-31 GHz band is increased from 2 degrees to 2.5 degrees while keeping the beam size in 17-22 GHz band unaffected.
