A Compact Wideband CRP Antenna for Advanced Wireless Communication

In this research article, the simulated design and fabrication prototype of a wideband Complementary Split-Ring-Resonator Rectangular Patch (CRP) antenna with partially Ground Plane (GP) is proposed. The size of the proposed design is $30\times 30mm^{2}$ and fabricated using FR$4_{-}$epoxy substrate. The patch includes SRR slots to increase the impedance bandwidth. Proposed antenna is suitable for Airport Surveillance (2.7 GHz - 2.9 GHz), WiMAX applications (3.3 to 3.7 GHz) and further S-band (2-4GHz) satellite and radar applications. It covers the wideband frequency ranging from 2.25 GHz to 4.25 GHz. It achieved the reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$) of -17.822 at 2.45 GHz and -28.75 dB at 4.2 GHz frequency. This design is predominantly concentrated on wideband and compact size. The radiation patterns, gain, bandwidth and VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) for the simulated antenna and fabricated prototype are all in good agreement with the measured data.
