Performance Analysis of Adaptive Beamforming on Large Inter Element Spaced Aperiodic Phased Arrays

Phased array radar systems are crucial in various applications, but they often face limitations in terms of grating lobes, interference mitigation, and side lobe levels. To address these issues, an advanced architecture and algorithm for adaptive beamforming is proposed and implemented. The objectives of this work include optimizing the signal of interest, suppressing interferences, and reducing side lobe levels. This paper presents the design and implementation of adaptive beamforming techniques on grating lobes suppressed aperiodic phased arrays. Algebraic methods and computational procedures are developed to achieve these objectives. Extensive simulations are conducted using MATLAB software tools to validate the proposed approach. The results demonstrate that adaptive beamforming can be applied in aperiodic phased arrays with large inter element spacing.
