Comparative Analysis of Forensic Results of File Deletion Tools on Windows

As the amount of data used in everyday life increases, so does the concern about the use of anti-forensic techniques in hindering the digital forensics process. Artifact wiping techniques are becoming a concern due to their ability to complicate the digital forensics process. In particular, some file deletion tools make claims regarding their ability to ensure that files can be deleted and cannot be restored. There are at least 3 tools that claim this, namely Ccleaner, Eraser, EaseUS BitWiper. Therefore, we will test the file eraser tools in deleting data and compare the data recovery results of the three file eraser tools. The result of this research is that no artifacts were found after deletion using the three file deletion tools. Findings were successfully found using the manual deletion scenario, which was carried out manually and found 161 findings of related artifacts. The results of this research are expected to answer the problem formulation of the research conducted.
