Corrosion Analysis of Concrete using Resistivity Method

Concrete is the most widely used type of construction in various types of buildings worldwide today. Steel reinforcement will provide the tensile strength that concrete lacks and can also carry compressive loads. So, the two materials are combined into reinforced concrete. The reinforcing steel itself is a metal that rusts easily. The rust process is influenced by the environment, namely humidity and the presence of oxygen. An initial screening of reinforced concrete is needed, with a detrimental impact if reinforced concrete rusts. In this study, we will use the resistivity method to detect corrosion in reinforced concrete and find out whether the type of curing and concrete quality can affect the resistivity of concrete. The results obtained in this study are that the resistivity value of concrete will decrease when rust (corrosion) occurs. The type of curing and concrete quality also affect the resistivity measurement.
