Techno-Economic Analysis and Simulation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations based on Green Energy System

A comprehensive examination is presented in this paper concerning a hybrid energy system, connected to the grid, with the specific purpose of fulfilling the energy requirements of an electric vehicle (EV) charging station. This system integrates various components, including solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays, wind turbines, battery storage, and connection to the electrical grid. The HOMER simulation tool is employed to concentrate on the system’s size and optimization. The EV charging station sustains a daily average load demand of 2489.1 kWh. The results of the simulation demonstrate that the refined hybrid system attains an impressive cost of energy (COE) at approximately ${\$}$0.114 per kWh. Furthermore, the system exhibits a net present cost (NPC) of ${\$}$2.15 million and a renewable energy fraction of 75%. These findings emphasize the economic efficiency and sustainability of the proposed hybrid energy solution to energize EV charging stations, thereby contributing to the advancement of environmentally friendly and effective transportation systems.
