Estimation of Optimal Control Parameters of Doubly-Fed Wind Turbine using Intelligent White Shark Optimizer

Each of the numerous PI controllers that make up the doubly-fed wind power generator control system has a direct impact on the dynamic properties of the wind power system. The significant contribution of the recently developed White Shark Optimizer (WSO) has been adapted to obtain the best control parameters to improve the response of the delivered active power. The parameters of the four controllers of speed, dc link voltage, rotor current, and grid side have been adjusted to achieve this goal. Two objective functions have been executed to minimize both the minimum rise and settling time leading to improve the system performance. The integration between DFIG Simulink model and the control parameters evaluated by the adapted WSO optimizer has been applied in MATLAB environment. To verify the effectiveness of the WSO a case study has been applied to the optimizer and the results compared to the known conventional values. The obtained results using several independent runs of the presented scenarios showed the accurateness and efficacy of the WSO.
