Analysis and Simulation of Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motors for Electric Traction Applications

Many issues with electric traction systems exist, including efficiency, motor drive, and power consumption. The Axial Flux motor was recommended as the best motor for this system to address these problems. Analysis of axial flux motors with a view to their application in electric traction is presented in this paper: Types, construction, and structure topologies. A 3D model is also evaluated with FEA utilizing a new program called MotorXP that uses the MATLAB platform and provides incredibly quick and precise results. These results lead to a thorough examination of the axial flux motor, as well as a study of its behavior and operation, in order to learn how to operate these motors for the highest possible output and efficiency.
