Harmonic Domain Model of a Hybrid PV-Hydrogen/FC-Electrolyzer System for Steady-State Analysis

This paper presents a study on modeling a grid-connected hybrid power system (HPS) utilizing the harmonic domain (HD) technique. The system comprises a 4.12 kW photovoltaic (PV) system, a 4 kW hydrogen/fuel cell system, a 3.6 kW electrolyzer, a boost converter, a three-phase inverter, and a three-phase filter. The HD technique is employed for system modeling, where the dominant frequencies are taken into account, resulting in a compact yet accurate system description. The system has been successfully solved, and the resulting steady-state results in HD have been graphically shown to depict the harmonic content associated with each state of the system. The results are compared with the corresponding outcomes obtained from PSCAD/EMTDC simulations of the identical hybrid power system (HPS). The findings of the study demonstrate the reliability and ability of HD to effectively represent switched systems and extract ripple information without requiring extensive processing routines.
