Comprehensive Study on Serious Game Design for Autistic Children

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects numerous children globally, and there is a growing need for effective treatment. In recent years, serious games have gained attention as a promising approach for the treatment and intervention of Autism spectrum disorder. This paper presents a study that outlines a comprehensive set of guidelines for designing effective serious games for the treatment of Autism. The proposed guidelines are based on a thorough analysis of the unique needs and characteristics of individuals with Autism. Specific parameters and content, such as puzzles and interactive elements within the gaming environment, are provided which can effectively cater to the specific needs o fan autistic child. G ames designed following these guidelines can be more effective and have the potential to improve noted disorders such as social interaction, communication skills, and behaviour in children with Autism. Additionally, this study also recommends a suitable platform (device) for developing Autism-based games for the Indian scenario.
