Effect of Urbanization and Climate Change on Small Ruminant Management in Ghana A Case Study of Atwima Kwanwoma District

The research looks at how urbanization and climate change affect the population of people and how tiny ruminants are managed in a part of Ghana's Ashanti region. A semi-structured questionnaire was administered to one hundred (100) small ruminant farmers who were randomly chosen as the study's participants. The results showed that global warming is being caused by an increase in atmospheric temperature. Additionally, it was noted that relative humidity and rainfall had both decreased over the same time period. The increase in human population has significantly affected the productivity of small ruminants (sheep and goats). Some of the challenges highlighted by respondents that had adverse effects on production include increase prevalence of diseases, pests, reduction in feed availability, and scarcity of water. Policymakers and other multilateral agencies must ensure proactive measures are taken at the international, national, community, and individual levels to reduce the effects of climate change.
