Indian Temple Archetypes on Value Orientations: A Study on the Role of Occupational Categories

The current study explores the relationship between job categories, temple archetypes, and values essential for proenvironmental behaviour. Using a cross-sectional sample of 535 participants from a village in southern Kerala, India, the study found that individuals who work in temples or are artists had significantly higher biospheric values (BV) related to proenvironmental behaviour. Furthermore, the study suggests that temple archetypes positively impact these values. These findings highlight the importance of considering occupational context and temple archetype in environmental research and policymaking, with implications for promoting sustainable behaviour. This research can benefit policymakers, designers, and practitioners interested in promoting sustainable behaviour.
