Forecasting Rainfall Utilizing Simple Linear Regression

The accurate prediction of rainfall is essential for numerous industries like agriculture, water management, and disaster planning. In this study, a straightforward approach involving linear regression is employed to develop a system for forecasting rainfall. The research involves collecting historical rainfall data and pertinent meteorological information for a specific region. These data are then used to construct a basic prediction model based on linear regression. The model's accuracy is assessed using statistical measures such as mean absolute error and root mean square error. The study's results suggest that employing basic linear regression can yield highly accurate predictions of rainfall patterns in the Marathwada area in Maharashtra, India. The established rainfall prediction system proves to be a valuable tool for industries that rely on precise rainfall forecasts for planning and decision-making. This research not only highlights the efficacy of basic linear regression in providing accurate real-world predictions but also contributes to the advancement of rainfall prediction science.
